United Church Women
The United Church Women (UCW) is a national organization for women within the United Church of Canada. Their mission is to love God, foster Christian commitment, faithfulness and spirituality and promote respect and love for all God’s creation. There is an active group of ten members at Guthrie United Church.
Meetings
The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, with the exception of March, July and August, for worship, study, service and fellowship. All women are welcome to attend.
Initiatives
Throughout the year the group organizes a number of activities.
Community Support
Through fundraising efforts the committee supports the Hunger Stop Christmas Stocking Project, various local charities on an ongoing basis, and supports the ongoing activities involved in regular church services and church fundraisers.
One key fundraiser is a table at the Annual Community Bazaar in Clayton each November.

World Day of Prayer
World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
Each year on a Sunday in March, the UCW lead the congregation in the program created by women from another country.

Prayer Shawls
Created with prayer, these handmade prayer shawls and lap blankets are given to individuals during times of illness, grief, or life transitions to provide warmth and comfort. Cards and visits are also provided to members of the community as gestures of friendship and support.
If you know of someone who could use some comfort please reach out.

Remembrance Day Partnership
Each year, the UCW works together with the seniors of Linn Bower in Clayton to serve lunch to the members of Canada’s Armed Forces who attend the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the Clayton Cenotaph.
Presentation from a community member
Each May the committee hosts a speaker to present on relevant services in our community.
